The National Health Population Survey reports (2017, 2019, 2020) showed that the prevalence of Diabetes among Singapore Indians is high and increasing steadily. More noteworthy is that this prevalence is seen in adults aged 18 to 74 years. The prevalence of obesity at 17.7% is also higher among us than the national average.
We plan to conduct a Pre-Diabetes Awareness and Screening Programme for young Indian adults. The focus will be on risk assessment, screening and focus on prevention practices and how to make changes towards a healthier lifestyle to reduce risk and /or manage the disease better.
